Symbolism

Shield.  The silver reversed pile portrays the bow of the ship, moving upstream and parting the waves with strength and dexterity.  The multiple blue and white waves allude to the many channels of water the USCGC CIMARRON travels.  The steering wheel signifies the unit’s mission of navigational aide in the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers.  The ship also pushes a work barge and doubles as a search and rescue vessel when needed.

Crest.  The cannons are a historical symbol, referring to the Civil War forts and battlefields located along the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers.  The emblem at the top is from the Tennessee flag, where the USCGC CIMARRON is homeported.

Supporters.  The river buoys are encircled and uplifted by a light blue scroll, depicting the bouncing motion of the waves.  The green buoy is positioned to the left (port) of the metallic ship on the shield, while the red buoy is positioned to its right (starboard).  This refers to the unit’s responsibility of tending to navigational aids/markers along the rivers and shores.

Motto.  The Latin motto translates to “MASTERS OF THE RIVER.”

Seal.  The coat of arms as blazoned in full color on a circular white disc, within a Cobalt Blue designation band, edged with a Gold chain, inscribed “USCGC CIMARRON” at the top and “WLR 65502” at the base.  The chain further alludes to teamwork, unity, and fortitude within its leadership and crew.
